This Wednesday, the ZIS Varsity Volleyball team travelled to the other side of the lake for a friendly game against ICS. We were feeling confident after our victory at the home tournament last weekend and our team was eager to show off our new skills. After the short travel to the ICS gym, the team got warmed up and were enthusiastic to play. The first set was a success with limited hiccups for the Lions team. Our players had long serving runs and great team spirit resulting in a 25-6 win for the lions.
After cruising through the first set, we were presented with many opportunities to impose new team skills acquired since last weekend. Again, this was a successful, as seen in the score, a win of 25- 5 for set two.
Although we had won, there was additional time, meaning we played a third set against ICS (which only goes to 15). Again in this set we continued to practice our communication skills as a team and to add to team trust.
Despite missing several key players, the Varsity Lions had a great game and a well-deserved win. Special shoutout to Bailey Pellisser (’18) who filled in at Libero due to our 2 missing libero’s and did an amazing job in this new position.
